CERÁMICA
Welcome to our Cerámica School of San Juan de Oriente, founded by Senior Valentin Lopez with a deep commitment to preserving the ancient Indigenous art form of pottery carried by the Chorotega people. Through his ancestory and dedication, Mr. Lopez has created a space where children in his community learn the traditional techniques and cultural significance of Indigenous ceramic craftsmanship. Our mission is to keep this rich art form alive, fostering creativity, cultural pride, and economic opportunity for future generations of artisans. Join us in supporting Mr. Lopez's vision as we nurture the next generation and safeguard this vital piece of Chorotega heritage.

Our Cerámica School in the Indigenous community of San Juan de Oriente offers comprehensive training in pottery turning, painting, design, ceramic modeling, history, customs, and traditions. Each year, 40 children and youth are enrolled in two groups of 20 in each half year.
Students are divided into groups to focus on either pottery turning or painting and design. After completing their training, they apply their skills to help their families, improving productivity and quality of life. We continue to support and monitor their progress as they develop their own projects.

Our objective is to expand our School to enhance training for children and youth in the Indigenous community of San Juan de Oriente. Through our programs, they will develop skills in pottery turning, painting, design, and crafts.
The staff at tour School take pride in the progress these young individuals make toward improving their quality of life while preserving our cultural heritage. Meeting the community's needs is challenging, especially in today's global economic climate, but with the support of our dedicated allies, we can achieve our goals. The children and youth of this community aspire to transform the future.

We are improving the infrastructure of our school workshop to enhance the comfort and learning quality for our young students, fostering responsible, entrepreneurial youth free from drugs and alcohol, instilling in them a sense of pride in Indigenous heritage.
We currently have rooms for youth pottery training, children's crafts, and an exhibition sales area for products. The demand for training is increasing, and we need more space, a video screen to present images and documentaries of our ancestors, and a computer for records. A high priority is a dedicated teaching space, as the current one serves multiple functions.
