BIRTHING

Access to ancestral knowledge about childbirth is increasingly rare in modern healthcare. Traditional practices and rituals are often replaced by standardized procedures. We partner with Rhode Island-based non-profit “Crescent Birth House” to learn from Indigenous midwives and preserve ancient wisdom surrounding home birth and motherhood. For the first time, these rich cultural traditions are being documented and shared to foster deeper connections with intentional birthing practices.

  • Our Crescent Birth House project collaborates with Maasai mothers and women leaders in Ngorongoro, Tanzania, to preserve and share the ancient wisdom and practices of Maasai society. Through this partnership, we document traditional knowledge surrounding motherhood, birth rituals, and cultural practices, ensuring their continuation for future generations.

  • We facilitate Crescent Birth House's learning from Indigenous midwives and share this knowledge through the services provided to expectant mothers in the northeastern United States. By integrating ancestral wisdom into their care, they offer a unique, culturally enriched approach to birth that honors traditional practices while supporting modern motherhood.

  • Crescent Birth House is dedicated to fostering community dialogue around these traditional practices. By hosting workshops and sharing stories from Maasai women, they create spaces where expectant mothers can connect, learn, and embrace a deeper awareness during their journey to motherhood. This approach enriches the experience for new mothers and contributes to the preservation of Indigenous wisdom.
