GOATS
TRADITIONALLY, ONLY MAASAI MEN CAN OWN LIVESTOCK. WOMEN AND CHILDREN RELY ON THE FATHERS TO PROVIDE FOOD. WITH LIVESTOCK DWINDLING DUE TO HABITAT LOSS AND CLIMATE CHANGE, WIDOWED FAMILIES ARE EXPERIENCING HEIGHTENED SUSCEPTIBILITY TO FAMINE. PROVIDING LIVESTOCK TO MOTHERS IS A SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION THAT ALSO SUPPORTS FAMILIES MAINTAINING A TRADITIONAL LIFESTYLE.
SINCE 2018, WE HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH COMMUNITIES IN EAST AFRICA AS “MAASAI WATER PROJECT” TO PROTECT THE BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS TO CULTURE, COMMUNITY, HEALTH AND EDUCATION.
